Unimar Inc., a Clay, N.Y.-based manufacturer and supplier of lighting fixtures for large applications, has released the Synchronized Flasher Controller for wind turbines.
According to the company, the controller uses global positioning system (GPS) technology to flash obstruction lights in unison. This allows a pilot to view the lights and avoid navigating between turbines.
The controller complies with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, which state that structures over 200 feet high need to be marked in order to maintain aviation safety, the company adds. Furthermore, the system is designed to integrate with light-emitting diode (LED) devices.
