WORLD WIND ENERGY NET

Siemens AG said Siemens Power Generation has won an order from RWE AG's nPower for 25 of its 3.6 megawatt (MW) turbines for the Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Wales.

The construction of the wind farm is scheduled for completion by mid-2009.

Once operational, Rhyl Flats and the neighbouring wind farm at North Hoyle will produce enough clean electricity to meet the needs of over 100,000 homes.

Rhyl Flats is located west of Danish company DONG Energy's Burbo Offshore Wind Farm, where Siemens has just finished erecting another 25 wind turbines, likewise with a capacity of 3.6 MW each. The Burbo project will start commercial operation by the end of this year.
